meet Doug fettig CPA

Doug has spoken at numerous dental seminars, academies, study groups, and vendor forums around the country and is known for his energetic, engaging, and entertaining speaking style. His insight allows him to effectively communicate business, management, and leadership concepts.

As a dental business advisor, he is adept at incorporating his expertise to help dentists think like a CEO, grow thriving practices, create dynamic office environments and help dentists create the retirement of their dreams. Despite Doug’s CPA and MBA academic achievements, he believes the best decision he ever made was dropping out of college at 20 years old. After working for a year afterwards, he bought a one-way ticket to Hamburg, Germany where he began hitchhiking around Europe.

That incredible time led to 7 years of countless opportunities to authentically connect with humanity, and it changed Doug’s perception of the world permanently. When he returned to college and eventually to his professional career, he had forged a strong appreciation of peoples’ unique strengths and how education could help maximize their potential. In addition to his professional speaking roles, he has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at Portland State University’s College of Business. Doug also cofounded and served as the President of the nonprofit group Precious Beginnings, speaking at numerous medical and charitable events to further the mission of supporting parents with critically ill newborns.

Outside of public speaking, you can usually find Doug spending time with family and cheering on the Oregon Ducks.

meet Catherine fettig MSN, RN

Catherine Calder Fettig, MSN, RN is an advanced practice nurse who specializes in behavioral health. Catherine spent several years providing in-patient mental health services before joining a leadership team (that included 4 major Portland-area healthcare systems) to open a 120-bed mental health facility in Portland, OR (Unity Center for Behavioral Health).

In her role as a Nursing Education and Behavioral Health Specialist Catherine provides teaching, education, and consulting services for both Unity and the broader Legacy healthcare system and it’s 14,000 employees. Catherine is passionate about bringing awareness of the effects of trauma and helping healthcare teams understand how trauma impacts healthcare outcomes. She serves as an expert in teaching healthcare professionals how to integrate a trauma informed approach to care, thereby promoting better patient outcomes.

Catherine is an accomplished and talented public speaker, with a natural gift for connecting with her audience and inspiring them to action. She tailors trauma informed care training to dental audiences and teams, including presentations varying in length from a 1-2 hourlong conference presentation or webinar, to all day training workshops for a dental office.

Based on her experiences in the mental health and medical settings, Catherine is convinced that training dental teams to implement a trauma informed care approach will improve the patient’s experience. Learning how to recognize the effects of trauma and incorporating approaches that provide a supportive environment will undoubtedly lead to a patient being more comfortable in seeking dental care. While seeking dental care, the patient is then in a better position to partner with their dental team to follow their recommended treatment plan, leading to both improved patient health outcomes and an increase in production for the dental practice
